The purpose of the Hearts of Horizons Civitan Club is for the students to perform service activities that support the community in which they live. The club facilitates leadership through fellowship, social responsibility, and service to others. The leadership of the organization consists of elected student officers: President, vice president, secretary, and treasurer as well as faculty advisors. All current students are members of the school’s Civitan Club, which is called Hearts of Horizons and Alumni students are welcome to join.

Civitan International is an organization of volunteer service clubs around the world, dedicated to helping people in their own communities. Civitans help wherever the need arises – from collecting food for a homeless shelter to volunteering at their local retirement home, to building a playground for children with disabilities. Civitans have been helping people since the organization’s founding in 1917, by a group of businessmen determined to make a difference in their community. Examples of service projects that members of HOH have performed are:

  • Rise Against Hunger
  • SHPC Sunday Club
  • Children’s Hospital Wagon Wash
  • Community Food Bank of Central Alabama
Students and staff decorated the Civitan International Center for the holidays.
