Ms. Dalton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education- Learning Disabilities in December of 1991 from the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB).  She started her teaching career in Tuscaloosa in January of 1992 at Alberta Elementary School (Tuscaloosa City Schools).  In the fall of 1992, she accepted a position at E.B. Erwin High School (her alma mater) and taught Special Education for grades 7-12.  In the spring of 1995, Dalton received a Master of Arts in Special Education Mild Learning Handicapped (MLH).  When she taught in the high school setting, she primarily focused on training her students to be successful within the core curriculum.  Ms. Dalton also taught remedial reading and math classes in the resource setting and taught Special Education for the State of Alabama for a total of 20 years.  Dalton started teaching at The Horizons School in August of 2012 and has taught Functional Literacy, Money Management, Creative Expression, Cooking, shopping and Apartment Health & Safety.  Working at The Horizons School has been such a wonderful experience.  

Her personal interests include swimming, reading, writing, ancestry & painting.  A fun fact: Ms. Dalton was a swimmer on a swim team from ages 5-18.  She has coached swimming and was a camper and camp counselor at YMCA Camp Cosby in Alpine, Al. during the summers of 1973-1983 and is still an active alumni for the camp.
