Dr. Brian Geiger, Ed.D., FAAHE, is a scholar, health educator, administrator and advocate for disability civil rights. Before joining the Horizons School faculty, Dr. Geiger led innovative programs in public and private non-profit agencies, including The University of Alabama at Birmingham; Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center; Volunteers of America; HealthyMe, HealthyU with UCP of Greater Birmingham; Selma City Schools Nutrition Exercise and Wellness Study (NEWS); Healthy Athletes Program of Special Olympics Alabama; Alabama Interagency Emergency Response Coordinating Committee; Alabama State Department of Education; Alabama Department of Public Health; McWane Science Center; Children’s of Alabama; American Cancer Society; Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation of America; & Hoover City School System. Dr. Geiger earned a Doctor of Education in Health Education Administration from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Science in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services from Loyola University, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Tulane University. He earned a Professional Service Award from The American Association for Health Education, Odessa Woolfolk Community Service Award and Dean’s Excellence in Mentorship Award, both from The University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Alabama Health Education Teacher of the Year award.
