New Job Developer & Coach

March 2017

We are excited to welcome our new Job Developer/Coach! Ms. Virgilio will make an exciting new addition to the Career Team.

Message from Ms. Virgilio:

My name is Alicia Virgilio and I just began my first week here at Horizons School as the alicia virgilionew Job Developer/Coach. Both the faculty and students have been extremely welcoming these first few days, and I am beyond thankful to be a part of this great organization. I first began working with this population in a volunteer capacity in my hometown of Chicago, which made me realize that this was what I wanted to do as a career. I most recently coordinated the Employment Program for a local non-profit that serves adults with disabilities and I am excited to share what I have learned in a school setting, as well as learning from each of you!

I genuinely look forward to having the opportunity to meet all of you in person, so please be sure to come introduce yourself if you see me lost in the hallways!

Field Education: Baseball

January 2017

We were treated to a wonderful tour of The Negro Southern League Baseball Museum by our former art teacher, Ms. Toby Richards. We also were surprised with a complete tour of Regions Baseball Complex and learned a few history lessons along the way. It was a wonderful day!

Fall Field Trip

December 2016

Students & faculty visited Cathedral Caverns and Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment Complex. Students enjoyed touring the cave and seeing artists working in their studios. Many artists were generous enough to demonstrate some of their crafts and even got a demo of how poetry is made.
